Gaming News - Left 4 Dead 2 banned in Australia
Devastating news for aussie's this week, Left 4 Dead 2 will be banned from being sold down under. The Australian Classifications Board has refused to give a rating to the shooter zombie survival game. Why do all Aussies miss out on the chance to kill zombie in new, imaginative and graphically enhanced? We miss out because of the refusal of our government to allow distribution/sales of R18+ games. Australians getting a maximum of MA15+ games is just plain stupid. Its as if our goverment believes us to be more sensitive, or prone to violence, than the rest of the world. Ill bet theres no gamers in Australian politics. Boards reasons for banning the game were due to 'high impact violence' against 'living humans infected with a rabies-like virus'. Firstly, zombies are not living , they are the re-animated dead and second, who doesnt like a bit of high impact violence. I am a huge fan of zombie games and i say the gorier the better. The report goes on the say that the game has 'copius amount of blood spray and splatter, decapitations and limb dismemberment as well as location damage where contact is made to the enemy which may reveal skeletal bits and gore. Projectile shots to infected humans can cause abdominal wounds which can reval innards or even cause intestines to spill from the wounds'. I'm sorry but does that sound freaking awsome to anyone else or is it just me? Being an 18 year old gamer myself and knowing that the average age of a gamer in Australia is 28 i really dont understand why Aussie gamers have been denied our gore-fest all-round awesome gaming experience!

Batman - The Game That Keeps On Giving
This week the genius` at Edios Games/WB Games realeased more new free downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Asylum on Xbox Live. Last weeks offering featured the Insane Nights Map Pack, which included two new maps, the first of which being Totally Insane, a free flow challenge map with an addition of a new enemy, the 'lunatics' and a constant flow of insane inmates. No rounds. Lunatics can make your stay at Arkham Asylum a living hell, they are faster, attack frequently, and interupt combos if your unfortunate enough to have tried using a takedown on them but i always love a challenge. Also another predator challenge map, Noctunal Predator, sticking to the dark theme of the game, this map was cool with a few new inventive ways to beat up or humiliate your enemies, you really have to earn your three batarangs on this one though because the goals seemed to be alot harder.
Now this week brought us the new Prey In The Darkness DLC with a new Predator Challenge, Arkham Pumping Station and a new map to unleash Batmans fists of fury in a Free-flow Challenge, Abandoned Glasshouse which isn't really all that different untill Round Four when they throw a Titan into the mix. The free-flow combat is still flawless even with the added difficulty presented in these new maps.
Very disapointing though, that we are still missing out on the Joker playable charater DLC, i had a chance to play as him ealier this year at Supanova (aussie anime and gaming convention) and it was awesome.
